Made to be used by everyone
Tiffin Lane is a demo built by Kirosconsult. We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA, and we built this demo with that target from the first screen.
What we checked
- Every page has one main heading, a skip link and labelled landmarks.
- The whole app works with a keyboard alone. Focus is always visible, and dialogs trap focus and close with Esc.
- Text colours were measured against their backgrounds in both light and dark mode: 4.5 to 1 for body text and 3 to 1 for large text.
- Touch targets are at least 44 by 44 pixels.
- Form fields have visible labels. Errors appear next to the field and are read out by screen readers.
- Totals, alerts and order progress are announced through live regions.
- Heat levels are shown as chilli icons, and each one also has a text label such as Heat 3 of 4. We never use colour on its own to carry meaning.
- Motion stops when your device is set to reduce motion.
- Layouts were checked at 360, 390, 768, 1024 and 1440 pixels wide, with no sideways scrolling.
What we have not done yet
- We have not yet tested with VoiceOver and TalkBack together with people who use them every day.
- The member QR code is an image. Its text equivalent is the member number printed beneath it.
- Text spacing and 400% zoom have been tested in a browser only, not on every phone.
