How much does a website cost in South Africa?
A professionally built small-business site in South Africa typically costs R5 590 to R16 900. Kirosconsult sites are R3 499 for Local, R7 000 for Trade and R15 000 for Practice, once-off and paid in two, with the domain, hosting, five mailboxes and SSL included for 12 months. After that a care plan starts at R349 a month.
Why is the price what it is?
Two reasons, both boring. We build on a system we have already written: the security, email authentication, accessibility and indexing work is a checklist we run, not a puzzle we solve again per client. And we host at wholesale on infrastructure we already run for a portfolio of sites. Low cost per site, done many times, priced honestly.
What happens after the first 12 months?
Your domain, hosting, mail and backups roll onto a care plan starting at the rate shown on each plan. That is the only recurring cost, it is published, and it does not jump in year two. If you would rather take the site elsewhere, we export everything and help you move it. No exit fee.
Who owns the site?
You do. The domain is registered in your name, the hosting account is yours, and the code and content are yours. We keep a copy so we can support you, not so we can hold you to ransom.
Do you really configure DKIM and DMARC on a small business site?
Yes, on every single one. It is the difference between your quotes landing in an inbox and landing in spam, and between a scammer being able to invoice your customers in your name and not. It takes us under an hour because we have a runbook for it.
Can you build something no plugin does?
That is most of what we do. Live courier rate quoting, multi-practice prescription systems, immutable clinical notes, 47 000-line quote catalogues, school communication platforms, funder portals. If it can be specified, it can be coded.
Are privacy and legal pages included?
Yes, as standard, on every build. We write them from our tested templates for South Africa: a privacy notice (POPIA), a cookie notice, website terms, an accessibility statement and a branded error (404) page. They do not count towards your pages. Custom legal wording, or changes your own lawyer asks for, are billed at our hourly rate (R749). We recommend your lawyer reads them before launch.
What do you need from me?
Your logo if you have one, the text for each page, any photos you want used, and half an hour of your time. Local includes one round of changes and Trade two. We design and build around what you supply and show you a draft. If you would rather we write the words, tell us and we will quote copywriting separately.
Is there a contract?
The build is a fixed-price piece of work. The care plan is month to month after the first 12 months, cancellable with 30 days notice. We do not do 24-month lock-ins.
How long does it take?
Local goes live in about a week from the day content lands. Trade and Practice run two to three weeks. Anything bespoke depends entirely on what is being built, and you get a written schedule before anything starts.
How do I pay?
Pay online through Stitch (launching soon), or by EFT against your invoice. EFT details come with your confirmed quote. The build fee is paid in two: 50% to start, 50% before your site goes live. Care plans and retainers are billed monthly, or yearly in advance for care plans.
